Save Your Icon!

Unfortunately Berlin is going to lose another classic club which influenced many of us! This is quoted out of their statement:

We´re an institution in Berlin´s nightlife. A nightlife the city administration loves mentioning in its bid to attract tourists and investors. That brings the city money – but it brings us nothing. On January 1st, 2011, our license is being withdrawn.

A new appartment block has been built next door – modern living in Prenzlauer Berg – chic and expensive. Having a club as neighbours doesn´t fit into that picture. There´ve been too many complaints from the new residents, not due to loud music, but because of the people on the sidewalk. The authorities of Berlin´s Pankow district have decreed: we have to go.

That destroys another piece of Berlin´s world-famous club culture.

Luckily there are some crazy people out there who want to fight against that! They built a site independently from Icon‘s operators that documents their actions and the best part about it is that you can get involved, too – Save Your Icon:

1) Collect signs from all of your friends and even others
2) Put that on your Website (like us, look at our sidebar)
3) Visit the site and like that movement on Facebook
4) Start some own actions and get in contact with the guys!
