It’s hard to tell how much the amount of plays on last.fm represents the number of listeners in real live, probably more people – non-digitally – listen to 60s Folk, german Schlager or uzbek percussion duos than unique plays on last.fm would make one belive. In addition to it, maybe only one out of ten people listening to mp3s really scrobble their plays.
But if it’s about electronic music it should be possible to get a little more precise information about listeners habit. Watching the decrease of plays for a band like Steed Lord, sadly one could get the impression that within maybe two years they went from super-underground to Über-hype and back again, former crowd-pleaser Feel the Heat for example, having not even 40 plays a week now.
The happier die-hard fans like myself should be about a new vital sign of the icelandic trio. Walking in the footsteps of Michael Jackson’s Thriller (who even has a guest-appereance) they released a ten-minute kick-ass video, directed by Steed Lord’s M.E.G.A. to the first single of their forthcoming album, Heat II Heat.
And I’d be surprised if this wouldn’t be enough to catapult them back into the hype-olymp – where they belong.
