The time I discovered, what a great band The XX is, was around that moment when everyone else around me was already fed up with it and moved on to something else.
The desicion not to get into it earlier was more like a conscious one, I was somehow very annoyed by the whole hype around it – which I regret after and I swore to myself to be generally more open torwards hypes.
So this time I might be quite ahead of the next hype, called Lana Del Rey. She recently came out of nowhere, being unsigned, with a handmade video and a killer single called Video Games.
Two weeks or so after she announced two shows, one in London which was sold out in about 30 minutes and one at Berlin’s Roter Salon which is definitely sold out by now. So much for the hype.
But seriously, for a long time I haven’t been so overwhealmed by a song as well as by an artist, one that on one hand closes the gap between Amy Winehouse and Isobel Campell and on the other might be a candidate of becoming a pop demigod like Madonna or Lady Gaga.
I don’t know who came up with calling her the Gangstah-Nancy Sinatra, but I think that describes it all quite well at the end.
Her debut double A side single will be out in Germany from October 7th, and this time you better believe the hype!

When it comes to intellectuals, there are always some ineradicable stereotypes, like “they can’t do burnouts” or “they know nothing about a decent car stereo.”
And when it comes to Berlin party-goers, they seem to be always in for a good punch into their stomach. Not necessarily by some adolescent troubleseekers, lurking around at metro stations, but by a good bass frequency.

This is maybe, what the guys of Heavy Listening might have thought when they came up with their project, Tiefdruckgebiet, taking twelve cars, equipped with monstrous subwoofers and doing a little bass parade through the heart of Neukölln, aiming to let the city shake by some really low bass frequencies.
If you want to be a part of this madness, all you have to do is coming to Schillerpromenade on June 19th, 3 PM.

When Nicki Minaj announced her debut album some time ago, I really expected some next level shit. But after listening to it, I was greatly disappointed. So I decided to lay my hopes in RyeRye‘s RYEot PowRR mixtape, but… nah… not bad, but not exactly next level.

So just at that moment when I didn’t expect anything anymore, 18-year old Tampa-Bay rapper Dominique Young Unique hit me with a blast!
So far she released two mixtapes, that are really worth checking out, and probably will accompany you through all the spring season and until the end of summer… maybe till the end of time!

Oh, and she got some cool videos, too

Can you imagine Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs after hours, cruising down the highways, heading home? I found the tape most likely being played on their car-stereo during that time.
oOoOO is pronounced “oh” and is the alias of San Francisco-based producer Chris Dexter Greenspan. Hearts is a track from his self-titled debut EP and is just one of a couple of songs he released so far that can be found all over the web and has this beautiful layed back feeling, but it’s kind of at the doorstep to darkness the whole time.
According to his label, Tri Angle Records, an album is planned sometime in the future.

Not a big surprise to many, but what you saw the last years was just her body. It occurred that her Spirit from the Material Girl – days became alive and transferred itself into the body of malaysian Artist Ze!

Anyway, I dig her music for a while already and realized she finally put the sametitled singe track from her “I Am Glam” LP on Soundcloud, which can be downloaded for free. I appreciate it, Mrs. Ze!
