13 years of funky electro house – that means 5 grand LP’s and countless tracks and remixes for well-known artist from all around the world. This gentle young man knows how things roll in the biz and especially 2011 was one of the best years for Malente, a talented german DJ and producer we had the honour to play Pink-Pong with (check the interview here). His own record label No Brainer Records, which he established only two years ago, could manage to grab the second position in the German Club Charts 2011 poll and got 4 tunes in the German Club Charts DCC annual 2011 listing. Two of them amongst the top 40 including Malente‘s and Zero Cash‘s “I’ll be there“:
But 2012 is going to be even bigger! He just started the new year with his monthly represented Resident Advisor charts. This time for January ’12 in which acts like Monkey Safari and NT89 are all-inclusive…check the full TOP 10 list here. However, this little whiz kid is a real multi-tasking talent. Still the best is yet to come in February when Malente gets fetched back to our beloved hometown Berlin City. This is going to be a huge year, for Malente as well as for the Pink-Pong family!
Usually it’s the artist who conducts his fan-crowd but in this case it is the other way round! For the fifth time DELL and Intel invite people around the world to an extraordinary experience in which followers have the power to collaborate with the performing artist before and during the show and aims to bring audiences and bands closer together than ever before. In this “Special Engagements” episode the devotees take control over Woodkid, a french performer and creativ head, who already worked together with Lana del Rey for her “Born to die” video. He will climb the Eiffel Tower in Paris to enchant a global audience with a haunting live-streamed performance above the rooftops of the city of love. This unique experience will be broadcasted on the 24th of January at 7:30p.m. GMT via noisey.com and you will have the chance to watch it exclusively live on our Pink-Pong blog on tuesday! This is truely an offer you can’t refuse! The “Special Engagements” series has already led artists like The Rapture to unexpected global locations such as Austin, Beijing, London and our hometown Berlin. This time Dell and Intel in cooperation with the VICE network invite you to share a terrific moment of good music and sweeping interaction of crowd and performer in la belle ville Paris. So TUNE IN and don’t miss this once in a lifetime experience!
Just imagine: All the way down the “Pacific Coast Highway” in your Ferrari Testarossa, wearing a pink shirt and Ray Ban’s “Wayfarer” and listening to Pia Zadora’s “When the rain begins to fall” on the radio…then you know how Sonny Crockett must have felt cruising through Miami in the 80′s. Now back into the future! There is one man that is reviving the 80′s-manner with funky discohousebass plus retro visuals and will head to Gretchen Berlin on saturday the 21st of January via time leap. Kavinsky, the french teddy boy amongst the djs, will unpack his disks and lay down a dj-set that even video game freaks will be delighted. Especially when he is dropping his track “Testarossa Autodrive” remixed by SebastiAn, known from GTA IV.
Both acts have already been touring together alongside with Daft Punk in 2007. This time Kavinsky gets support by our Pink-Pong’s finest Marvin Suggs and The Sexinvaders, who made a floating remix of Kavinsky‘s track “Nightcall”. You can watch the marvellous video below and in addition download the track for free. Just check the soundcloud-link.
We are giving away 3×2 freetix for retro-lovers. Just send a mail to viki(at)pink-pong.de and tell us what’s your favourite 80′s track and why. Good luck!
