Obviously some people are more productive than others, while for some it takes ages to do something good, others need only a second to produce crap.
My favorite one-girl band Computer Magic from Brooklyn decided for herself to take a different approach. She’s producing new music as if she’d be working on a production line and not on a laptop, but at the same time she’s keeping her standards high.
So after praising her first EP Hiding From Our Time on this blog a while ago, I am happy to announce that the follow-up EP Hiding From More of Our Time is out now and also can be downloaded for free.
Again it’s a mixture of influences of her pretty unique taste of music, mashed together and becoming her own distinctive (computer) magical sound. It’s a little shorter than her previous output, but as long as she’s doing it that well, I’m not complaining.

I don’t know when I listened to Computer Magic the first time, must have been maybe one or two months ago, but I do know, it was the same day when I fell in love with the music of Danielle Johnson, the 21-year old Brooklyn graphic designer who is behind the whole thing.
Now it doesn’t happen too often, that I discover new music which totally does not seem to care about us listeners, our expectations, trends, hypes, DOs and DON’Ts, the world in general… but is at the same time not only listenable, but beautiful.
To spread the word of her carelessness even a little more, she just released a free 7 track EP, called Hiding From Our Time, so light-hearted and pure, that I think, now after listening, Computer Magic is even disconnected from the whole goddamn universe.
Ironically, according to Danielle “Danzie” Johnson, Computer Magic is influenced by old sci-fi films, weird production methods and growing up. Growing up!? Well…let us hope that she will never stop growing up then!
