Hoher Besuch diesen Freitag im ICON. Das französische, ach was, DAS europäische Electro-Label Ed Banger lässt mal wieder die Puppen tanzen.
Helfen sollen dabei die Abgesandten Mr. Flash und Vicarious Bliss. Zu dem französischen Gespann wird sich dann auch noch Pink-Pong Lokalmatador Marvin Suggs gesellen. Die Schwester des ICONs freut sich zur großen Einweihungsparty einladen zu dürfen. Gratulanten gibt es Genüge.
Neben Busy P und the Sexinvaders werden auch Jazzanova, Krazy Baldhead und viele weitere DJs gerne ein Eröffnungsliedchen abspielen.

Letzterer ließ verkünden, dass sein zweites Album kurz vor der Fertigstellung steht. Gut möglich, dass GRETCHEN-Besucher erstmalig in den Genuss von Hörproben des Nachfolgers von “The B-Suite” kommen könnten. Und so selten, wie sich der feine Herr in Berlin blicken lässt, könnte es ein exklusives Vergnügen werden!

Unfortunately Berlin is going to lose another classic club which influenced many of us! This is quoted out of their statement:

We´re an institution in Berlin´s nightlife. A nightlife the city administration loves mentioning in its bid to attract tourists and investors. That brings the city money – but it brings us nothing. On January 1st, 2011, our license is being withdrawn.

A new appartment block has been built next door – modern living in Prenzlauer Berg – chic and expensive. Having a club as neighbours doesn´t fit into that picture. There´ve been too many complaints from the new residents, not due to loud music, but because of the people on the sidewalk. The authorities of Berlin´s Pankow district have decreed: we have to go.

That destroys another piece of Berlin´s world-famous club culture.

Luckily there are some crazy people out there who want to fight against that! They built a site independently from Icon‘s operators that documents their actions and the best part about it is that you can get involved, too – Save Your Icon:

1) Collect signs from all of your friends and even others
2) Put that on your Website (like us, look at our sidebar)
3) Visit the site and like that movement on Facebook
4) Start some own actions and get in contact with the guys!

That’s not any City – That’s Berlin! Finally we hold it like the Beastie Boys back in the days:

Wir haben gefeiert in allen Farben, auf grünem Gras uns die Füsse vertanzt, unter Sonnenschein und blauem Himmel die Zeit verloren…

Wir haben Kreative und Kunstschaffende aus verschiedensten Erdteilen getroffen und ins warme Nest des pink-pong Artist Collective geholt, schöne Musik und schaurige Geschichten ausgegraben und unsren Blog damit geschmückt wie einen Weihnachtsbaum…

Wir sind durchs Jahr gerauscht und ehe wir’s uns versehen, glüht die erste Geburtstagstorte kunterbunt und lachend vor uns. Grinst und grölt und feiert mit!

Nosaj Thing will be in Berlin on the 30th of octobre and is actually preparing his live-show. Therefore Adam Guzman and Julie Tsao are collaborating for the visuals – Adam describes their work in the following words:

“The live show for Nosaj Thing, a collaboration with Julia Tsao. Video clips are the formatted for mixing in Modul8. Each clip belongs to a certain part of a song. We triggered and manipulated each clip live with 2 midi controllers. Our performance is focused around disorientation and using the projector as a light source. The first half of the show is dedicated to slowly building a visual style. The images are black and white lines and squares. The positive/negative space is used to create rhythm that is synced with the audio. As the set progresses, the imagery becomes less abstract and focused less on light. Patterns begin to form and space begins to open as if the two dimensions exploded into a third. The relationship the graphics create with the performer is interesting. As the graphics become more spatial, the performer flattens, becoming a 2-D cutout version of himself.”
