Er ist einer der schillerndsten und ominöstesten Gestalten des laufenden Musikjahres.
Im Januar 2011 fing hier in Berlin alles an…
Beim Introducing-Konzert im Magnet supportete der mysteriöse Indianer, damals noch fast unbekannt, die Crystal Fighters auf schier unglaubliche Art und Weise. Es folgten Supports für Darwin Deez, ein legendärer Auftritt beim Melt! und eine ausgiebige US-Tour. Seine wahre Identität versteckte der junge, mystische Brite dabei erfolgreich hinter seinem Pseudonym:
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.
Spätestens seitdem auch sein Hit ‘Garden’ als TV-Commercial eingesetzt wurde, konnte sich niemand diesem Hype mehr entziehen. TEED ist definitiv eine der schönsten Entdeckungen dieses Jahres und gibt einem ein wenig Hoffnung, dass das Potential des Musikmarktes noch nicht ganz ausgeschöpft wurde.
Donnerstag Abend gibt es ihn dann wieder in Berlin zu bewundern – im Prince Charles.
Früh kommen lohnt sich: der Platz ist begrenzt und nur wer schon eine Karte im VVK ergattert hat, kann sicher sein, einen solch phänomenalen Live-Act bewundern zu können. Ein vorgezogenes Weihnachtsgeschenk für sich selber, quasi.

Diese ewige Tristes im Herbst. Man schaut auf seinen linken Arm und diverse Festivalbändchen baumeln einsam vor sich hin. Das Auffälligste ist dabei immer das MELT!-Bändchen.
Um diesem Problem ENDLICH Abhilfe zu schaffen, haben sich Macher vom MELT! seit geraumer Zeit überlegt, einen “Mini-Ableger” als monatliche Eventreihe durchzuführen.
Und so darf auch der Oktober am 21. endlich wieder meltig werden. Endlich.

Wer das Melt! kennt, weiß ja, was ihn erwartet. Eine ganze Nacht irgendwo zwischen Indie-Mithüpfern und Electro-Exzessen.

There is one thing about Cologne that came to my mind recently: Apart from 70s Krautrock legends Can, the c/o Pop and a quite impressive dome, (if you’re into domes… and I am not) there is not much I would associate with that city spontaneously.
Oddly enough, two kick ass records I had the pleasure of listening to the last time came from…. you might have guessed it – Cologne. The first one was the amazing Foreigner by (now) Post-Krautrockers Von Spar, the second one now Science Piñata, recorded by a couple of multi-instrumentalists and flatmates called PTTRNS (pronounced as Patterns). .
One can hear some Klaxons teaming up with The Whitest Boy Alive and joining Fugazi for a weekend trip. But it’s more like PTTRNS creating something new out of it instead of just quoting the ones mentioned before in their music. If you want to dance you can do so, if you’re more the drummer type of guy who prefers to sit down and listen… it works out, too! So after a 7inch, a split 7inch and a split CD (also available on vinyl) they finally decided to hit us with their first 9-track full length CD / Vinyl. So if you’re – like me – not into domes, or Cologne is just too far away, you might be interested that PTTRNS are performing live on this years Melt! festival, so we want you all to party with ‘em there!
