We´ve announced something special a few days ago (link) and here it is: Woodkid will climb the Eiffel Tower in Paris to enchant a global audience with a haunting live-streamed performance above the rooftops of the city of love. This unique experience will be broadcasted today at 8 pm right here! Before the broadcast starts, the screen will be black, so don´t worry if you can´t see anything at 6.47 pm today… at 8pm (paris & berlin time) the show will start LIVE!
Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary – aka Modeselektor – are famed for producing music that is out of the ordinary and differing from the typical 4×4 Techno that many DJs from their hometown Berlin are known for. Their live-on-stage visuals of the last tour were awesome: really funny and in a video game design. Their new Video “Evil Twin” has the same style: funny, beautifully made, deranged and arty. The time I discovered, what a great band The XX is, was around that moment when everyone else around me was already fed up with it and moved on to something else. The desicion not to get into it earlier was more like a conscious one, I was somehow very annoyed by the whole hype around it – which I regret after and I swore to myself to be generally more open torwards hypes. So this time I might be quite ahead of the next hype, called Lana Del Rey. She recently came out of nowhere, being unsigned, with a handmade video and a killer single called Video Games. Two weeks or so after she announced two shows, one in London which was sold out in about 30 minutes and one at Berlin’s Roter Salon which is definitely sold out by now. So much for the hype. But seriously, for a long time I haven’t been so overwhealmed by a song as well as by an artist, one that on one hand closes the gap between Amy Winehouse and Isobel Campell and on the other might be a candidate of becoming a pop demigod like Madonna or Lady Gaga. I don’t know who came up with calling her the Gangstah-Nancy Sinatra, but I think that describes it all quite well at the end. Her debut double A side single will be out in Germany from October 7th, and this time you better believe the hype!
News from the slowest-working band on the planet is coming the way: It’s a new vital sign of Berlin/Beijing’s Tyskerhar. This little video, to some an ode to the summertime in berlin, is the first song to be revealed from the forthcoming Ultra EP that will be released by the end of august. Stay tuned for more details.
It seems that the groundbreaking record of the century, the thing everyone’s been talking for… well… a week now, without anyone ever hearing a note of – Radiohead‘s The King of Limbs – is downloadable already, which would be about a day earlier as announced.

I recently stumbled upon this girl called Lalibella and her video to her track Big Star, directed by Marialuisa Ramirez, which is really pretty much a blast. First al all, as me being an avowing car fetishist, I think the usage of a Jaguar XJS in a music video can be quite difficult, for it is likely to draw away the attention from the artist completely, but luckily this does not happen at all here, which is again kind of an award for Lalibella.
But even more surprising for me it was, being confronted with the fact, that getting information about her would be so hard. I mean, how many artists, having a video like this, sounding like this, would you expect not having a facebook fan page or a Myspace profile?
Big Star is a beautifully 80s-inspired kind of retro, yet very modern track produced by J Ruffalo – that really has some synths to die for, and is the missing link between M.I.A. and Herbie Hancock. I wouldn’t be surprised at all, if this mixture would make Lalibella a big star by the end of this year. We’ll keep you up to date on her!
